Some apps can open files, some cannot. looks like question mark in the path at end of Family in the path

one app (Arachniphilia) says invalid path, and shows the path with question mark in it.

Z:\Family?\data-files.…

other app (TextPad 8) gives me an invalid parameter value error message.

if I send to or open with any Windows OS App (Paint, Paint 3d, Notepad, Word, WordPad, it opens fine.

it was working fine previously. I uninstalled latest Win10 update, but no changes.

thoughts?

@thebratguy not all apps support special characters in the path. I know that RoboCopy doesn’t as well.
