  1. I tried installing the original version of Smartwar ethat came with the N900 Central, and received an installation error Starting the WD Backup Service.

Product: WD SmartWare – Error 1923. Service ‘WD Backup’ (WDBackup) could not be installed.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.

and

Product: WD SmartWare – Error 1920. Service ‘WD Backup’ (WDBackup) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Any ideas where to look.

Cheers

Hello,

You might be getting a conflict with a software already installed on your computer. Have you tried to install the software on a different computer?

If you are able to install the software on a different computer, try the following on the windows 8 computer

  • Go to  Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
  • Locate and highlight  Sonic DLA or Drive Letter Access  from the list of applications.
  • Choose  Remove.

Just if you have either one of those programs.

Hi Help4All, I agreed with your thoughts and after some more blue screen issues used the Windows 8 restore feature this did the trick all software installed fine.

Cheers
John
