I have a 2TB model using RAID1 and one of the drives (A) is showing a SMART error.
I’ve upgraded the firmware to the latest version (02.43.10-048) and logged in to the drive.
Using the Support menu, I’ve run the “Create and Save System Report”.
In the “smart_info” file, it clearly shows a problem for the “A” drive:
-
SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: FAILED!
Drive failure expected in less than 24 hours. SAVE ALL DATA. -
ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAG VALUE WORST THRESH TYPE UPDATED WHEN_FAILED RAW_VALUE
-
5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 133 133 140 Pre-fail Always FAILING_NOW 2805
My questions are:
-
This looks like a critical error to me - can anyone confirm that this drive is effectively dead and I should simply replace it?
-
Lastly, the front LED is blinking green. Upon further investigation (Settings, Storage, Internal Storage) it appears that the device is attempting to re-build the RAID1. Is this worthwhile given the SMART failure on Drive A? Should I simply leave it to complete (may take 24+hrs)?
Any useful advice gratefully received…
Thanks,
Greg
