Single directory inaccessible

Suddenly one of the folders on my drive is inaccessible. I’ve let it sit for hours, hoping it’s something to do with indexing, I’ve run the standard drive tests, and rebooted the drive. I’m on a MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.5.1. You can see a screenshot of what I mean where the “Reference” folder is greyed out.

If anyone has any advice, please let me know. There are many GB of reference photos I’ve taken over the years in this folder.

Still sitting greyed out for days now. Have tried all sorts of things.
