Best chances to get it working again would be to use a similar hdd brand, like e.g. WD Blue HDD to make sure, that hdd and device controller are compatible. It may also work with your Toshiba laptop disk.
A new disk has to partitioned and formatted correctly though, with a reserved, separate 4gb partition for flashing the operating system. You can find posts on how-to on YouTube and in other threads on this forum, e.g. here: Hardware factory reset
