is it possible to set/remove the password of a My passport drive without needing to use WD Security installed via WD Discovery?
Also can it be unlocked without admin privs?
In context of limited access, WD Discovery can’t be installed at all.

You should know that WD Security, installed through WD Discovery, is the recommended way. However, you can still format the drive.
