SES driver installs each time I connect a different My Passport model for first time

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I have several My Passport drive models, including

:

My Passport Essential SE 1 TB USB 2.0 WDBABM0010BBK

My Passport Essential SE 1 TB USB 3.0 WDBACX0010BBK

My Passport 2 TB USB 3.0 WDBY8L0020BBK

I’ve been connecting them to a new laptop. Each time a My Passport model is connected to this laptop for the first time, the add new hardware notification appears and shows that SES driver is being installed.

Why would the SES driver have to be installed for a different My Passport model when an SES driver had already been installed when previously connecting another My Passport model?

Is each different My Passport model requiring a different SES driver?

Why can’t Western Digital issue a single SES driver that covers all My Passport models?

Yes, they should have different drivers since they are different units regarding the connection and the capacity.

that’s normal to my understanding.

Good grief. You’d think they could issue a common driver to handle at least their current models.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the information.
