Seek noise, LED flashing on connect to powered down PC (1 TB SE)

Hi.

When connecting the drive, Essential SE 1TB, to my unbooted but power-connected PC, it makes infinite seek noises and LED flashing. An older WD Passwort 160 GB remains silent with LED on.

  1. Is this normal?

  2. Can I change this bahaviour?

  1. On new models yes.

  2. No.

Just unplug the drive when not on use, or turn OFF the computer instead of hibernating (Sleep).

That’s standard, just disconnect the drive when not in use.
