I purchased a new WDTV Live Plus today and have had one for about a year. I have a Rosewill USB RNX-N180UBE, which is on the approved list, but it will not work on the new WDTV (I was using it on the new one to test the connection and get it setup. I ordered another one like a dope before testing). My old box is running FW 1.06.16_B, but I’m not sure what fw I had when I installed the wireless adapter. New box is FW 1.04.17_B. Not sure if it’s a FW issue or what, any help would be appreciated…oh, and I tested the USB ports with a thumb drive, they are ok.
Hmm. Yeah, you could try upgrading the fimrware manually via a USB drive.
I can’t tell what version of FW was needed for that particular adapter…
Yep, that was it. I upgraded to the newest FW, rebooted and there it was ready to setup. Weird issue, but hopefully it helps someone else in the future. Thanks!
Not so weird… That just means support for that adapter was added AFTER 1.04.17…
