Remote saving issues

I bought a WD cloud to access my files whilst I work away, which I do frequently. But I am having difficulty saving new files (mainly word documents) directly onto the cloud whilst working remotely. Surely this is the point of a cloud system? Please help.

I could easily save from Word save dialogue box when I was at home, but I can’t now I’m on a different network. I don’t have time to save the files onto my desktop then drag and drop later. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I’m using a MacBook.

Officially the methods of remote access to the single bay My Cloud devices is using WD My Cloud Desktop for Windows/Mac, MyCloud.com web portal, WD Sync, insecure FTP, and WD My Cloud app for iOS and Android.

WD removed capability to remote “map” a single bay My Cloud using the WD2Go.com web portal over two years ago. There have been numerous requests to bring it back, WD has indicated no plans to do so.

It appears, at least on Windows for Me, that one can open and save certain files to a remote single bay My Cloud using the My Cloud Desktop program.
