Is there a how to for setting up remote access to a My Cloud server on a static IP without going through the middleman WD Mycloud or wd2go.com ?
Yes, you can set up FTP access. FTP is not very secure since you send the username and password in the clear. YOu would need to map an external port to the port 21 of the NAS.
You will have to turn on FTP under settings > network
I’d recommend you first try to ensure FTP works on your LAN.
