MY 8TB MyCloud Home is dead and not does not power on. I have a spare 3TB MyCloud home unit, and if the problem is with the enclosure and not the drive, can i move the drive into the 3TB enclosure so that i can access my files again? Are there config settings to change on the drive before i install it in the 3tb enclosure?
That will not won’t work.
They are 2 different devices with different Firmware / Processors / Partitioning etc … And a very good chance you’ll lose your data for good if you attempt it (if that’s what you’re trying to rescue)
Try a standard USB Enclosure to put the drive in to attempt data recovery.
You’ll also need a Linux OS or Linux Live USB/CD
