This post comes to an end in November 2010 with no resolution from WD. Does anyone know where they are with this? I still have the problem and being a bit of a novice do not look forward to trying Vlado’s solution!
I also use the drive as a music server for Sonos, but regularly have to reboot it or start my PC up and access the network drive to stop it going to sleep.
