Question on playing 1080p on 1080i tv

If I have a 1080p file either straight bluray or ripped, that should look much better than a standard dvd on a 1080i tv correct?..what settings should I put the wd tv live at for the tv when playing 1080p?..set to 1080p or 1080i? also for widescreen 16:9 tvs I should set the wd tv live aspect ratio to widesceen, correct?..or normal for 16:9 tv’s?

also are NTSC Region 1 Blurays 1080p24?..should I choose 24 or 23.976 fps in the wd live for a 1:1 bluray copy…like here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1155731#anchorM

under display most say 1080p24  but then when you click on a movie like here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=14832654&postcount=812

its says its 23.976?..so what should I set my wd live to for 1:1 blurays for flawless playaback?

or will just setting all bluray to 60Hz be the best option?

I have 1080i bravia. When I use the ‘auto’ setting , by default WDTV live takes 720p. I started using 1080i 50 or 60 both were workinh ok. Now, I stick to 1080i 60Hz. I keep widescreen, 12 bit colour depth and use HDMI. Works perfectly. Any 1080p with any frame rate works well.

You cannot set the WD Live to Full HD (1080p) with a HD Ready TV (1080i)

24p is 23.976fps non interlaced.

I cannot see the difference in quality between 720p and 1080i but I’ve read that 720p is preferred for high speed action and sports.

I’ve set my WD Live to 720p 60Hz.
