Question about My Book and WD TV Live

I have a iMac and a WD TV Live.

I’m buying a 2 TB My Book external hard drive. 

If I connect this directly to the WD TV Live, will I be able to share the content to my iMac over the network? Both are on the same network and streaming from iMac to WD TV Live works fine.
