Why is my Wd2500 not recognised by my ps3 for purposes of backing up?

Only certain drives, and then only if formatted certain ways, are supported on devices other than actual PCs and Macs.

If your PS3 won’t recognize the drive, either the formatting is incorrect, or it’s just incompatible altogether.
