Problem with open and eject WD HDD (Elements SE and WD5000LPCX)

Hello. I have two WD external drives. The first is the WD5000LPCX drive in an external drive housing, the second is the WD Elements SE. Both have the same problem when connected to a Dell laptop running Win10 and now Win11. The disks open but their status is still as if they did not open, they had the mouse arrow all the time. There are only photos (160GB) on the disks. The photos don’t want to be deleted, but they open and can be copied. The second problem remains when trying to disconnect safely. The disk LED is blinking all the time and Win gives a message that the device is in use. There are no processes in the Task Manager. How can this problem be solved. The operating system is fresh and clean.
