Problem with m2ts file

I’m trying to play an m2ts file and nothing happens and all the system total blocks. Does anybody have an idea what is happening ?

Thanks a lot.

I’ve had a few problems playing M2TS files from time to time. For some reason, the WD TV Live+ thinks the file type is unsupported. This does not happen all the time. What I normally do is start playing a DVD ISO file, stop it, and retry the M2TS. Then it works fine. It’s another minor  bug that needs to be resolved in the next firmware update.

How are you generating your files? I normally use ClownBD to remux my files to a M2TS. It’s easy to use and gets the job done if you want no video compression.

Harlock

Thanks for your replay.

I’m trying to see now what happens when I make an mkv file. But this not a solution. I am very disappointed for this.

I use DVDFab for the conversion.

I’ ll try and the program you say.

Thanks a lot again.

You might also try posting the MediaInfo on a problem file for us to take a look at.

Ok thanks. I’ ll do it .

Well, that bitrate is through the roof – you certainly won’t be able to play that streamed wirelessly (15mbps is about all you can expect even under the best of conditions, and that’s twice that) and it’s asking a lot to even play it wired (however, it *should* be able to play that with a local USB drive – I’ve never actually had a file with that high a bitrate to test).

That file is a prime example of why re-encoding to a better container and codec is worth doing, despite the time it takes (not one of my hundreds of blu-ray encodes are greater than 17mbps, even the very detailed ones).

Several of my M2TS files are at over the bitrate you posted since I do not re-encode to mkv. I’ve had no problems playing them locally with a 1 TB WD portable drive, other than the “not supported” issue noted previously.

Harlock

Yes, as I said local playback shouldn’t be an issue here.

Since the OP hasn’t said yet we’ll wait and see just how he’s trying to play these.

I connect the media player with an external hd matrox via a usb cable.

I made an mkv file too. It plays for some minutes correct but then it looses the smoothness of motion and plays frame by frame.

All the other mkv files I have downloaded from internet plays fine including what I have in dvd format.

Is there any case to be something wrong we the speed of hard drive?

I’m sure the other files you have don’t have this high a bit rate.  Still, as the other poster noted, the Live should be able to handle this assuming it’s being fed the file properly.

It might be your drive – when was the last time you defragmented it?  You could always try reformatting it and seeing it that helps.

Look at this but rate please. I am not a great user of all this stuff. The problem is WD sees all m2ts files of different weight but plays only the same end of the movie in each file.

Welcome to the forums.

All you’ve shown us is the info for an entire disc rip. It doesn’t show us any information we’d need.

Normally you rip a blu-ray to a directory that has subfolders, one of which is BDMV.  In THAT sub-folder there are sub-folders one of which is STREAM.  In the STREAM sub folder there will be various M2TS files and most of the time the very largest one will be the one containing the entire movie (about 3% of the time you will need to do further things because the movie will be composed of more than one M2TS file but let’s leave that aside for a moment).

The Live can play the M2TS files, but you haven’t show us a structure like this.  I really can’t tell anything much from your structure (which probably means it wasn’t ripped correctly).

Mike thank you for the respond. But I can’t quite understand what you need to help me. Isn’t Stream diagnostics helpful? Look. I downloaded this rip from http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3131987

As I’ve mentioned no m2ts is able to play the movie (even the biggest one). All of them show me just the credits.

Well, obviously this rip comes from an illegal source, so I doubt, that anyone in this forum will support you on this any further…

Cheers,

You get what you pay for when downloading pirate stuff.

I’m freezing this thread since it’s obviously gotten off track.
