Problem losing Passport Ultra back-up ability when I re-boot my PC


I’m new to this forum. I have Windows 10, the free version available up until July of this year.

Does anyone know how I can keep my Passport Ultra from losing its functionality whenever I have to re-boot my PC?

I’m pretty sure this is an issue WD tech support mentioned to me when I registered my product.

After a PC re-boot (in my Windows 10) I am completely unable to back-up anything on my portable Passport Ultra drive.

Is there a fix or some such thing for this?

What backup software are you using? Make sure that you are using the latest version from the support site.

I am using the latest download of Smartware if that’s what you mean, even
though my hardware is several years old. Thank you, kindly.
