Problem backing up

I opened my computer and on my c drive it says 583 gb free of 682 but on my f drive for wd external drive it says 688 GB free of 698 GD using 10 GB is that normal or is it not backing up all my files

Any input would be greatly  appreciated

Smartware only backs up select file types not the whole drive.
