Preserving time and date stamps

My apologies if this has been addressed somewhere, but I am trying to transfer over files from my older Ubuntu backup server and I can’t seem to find a way to preserve the time and date stamps.

I have tried copying using the GUI, using both cp and rsync on the command line, and mounting the My Cloud drive via AFP and by NFS. No matter what I do, it seems that the time stamps for the copied files are modified to the current date.

Please tell me there’s a way to allow me to keep the original dates on these files!

I also tried using Grsync, a GUI front end for rsync, and it gives an error message in the log that it is unable to set the timestamp on the remote system.

See if this link helps you. It actually references a linux machine.

I actually discovered through trial and error that if I mount the Mirror as a Windows Network Samba share on the Linux machine that it retains the time and date stamps.

Getting pretty good speed as well, around 50 to 60 MB/sec across several concurrent transfers. I’ll take it!
