Powering WD10JPVX via USB 1.1

Hi,

I have got the WD hard drive WD10JPVX (SATA 6 Gb/s, 2,5", 9,5 mm, 5.400, 1 TB) and I would like to use it as an external USB drive, placing it inside the following USB 3 enclosure: Inateck FEU3NS-1.

I have an old notebook (ThinkPad T30) which has just one USB 1.1 port free. The port provides 500mA.

Will I be able to power the disk (and the enclosure) directly from that USB 1.1 port? Or will it be necessary to use an additional power supply?

Thank you
M.

Manosk,

USB 3.0 needs at least 900mA.

Even if the port is able to power the drive, USB 1.1 has a transfer rate of only 1MB/s.

At that rate, copying 1TB of data would require nearly 300 hours:

Hey I have that same hdd but i messed up and deleted the original undo.bin when I flashed it to 320gb for my xbox…could you make a copy of yours and send it to me?
