I have a Western Digital 6TB Elements Desktop USB 3.0 external hard drive connected to my TV. I have the drive plugged into a Wifi smart plug. Because of health issues I sometimes can’t get out of bed for days. I normally wait until I turn off the TV and wait for it to shut off it’s a USB port which puts the drive into sleep mode to remotely power off the drive…
Is it safe to power off the drive (using the smart plug) while the TV is still on? Or is there another solution?
