Powering drives off/on vs keeping drives running continuously

i’m sure there are extensive posts regarding this but I just can’t find them.

has WD done any research or posted and articles regarding whether powering drives off/on is worse for a hard drives than keeping drives running continuously?

so may people claim it is better not to power cycle but there is no quantification to their claims,

ie
how long can you run a drive before it would be better to power it off…

There seems to be no full consensus and even between WD and Seagate you’ll find contracdicting opinions, I say shut it down.
