Powering a G-Speed

I am running a MacBook Pro hooked up to a new G-Speed 12TB drive, RAID 5. My first time running a RAID array at home.

I am writing because I experienced some issues getting my drive to load up on my computer-- it appeared in the G Speed Utility but not in the desktop and not in the Disk Utility or System Profile. I determined that it was a power supply issue. The G-Speed was plugged into a power strip/surge protector with a few other power draws and indeed when I moved the G-Speed plug directly into the wall outlet it did load up fine and appears to be working well.

I am working in Mexico, where power surges are a real and constant threat. Is there any specific type of surge suppressor that could work with my new drive?

Thanks

Hi,
If you’re having unstable power issues I would get a UPS “uninterruptible power supply” from APC that would use a battery backup system when you had power sags and surges.
