How can i turn off the power button light BUT still have the “My Cloud Home” device powered?

black insulting tape or a piece of black adhesive vinyl … or a black marker pen if you feel like coloring.

there’s no option to disable it … like there is on my Gen 1 WD My Cloud device.

Maybe there aren’t enough ppl complaining about this for WD to take action on this, u can add me to the list of customers unhappy with the lack of options for the LEDs on this device. Like irjetsetter i have devices with this options to control the LEDs… netgear router, brother printer, hell even a air purifier. Its a simple add on and I believe there is a good amount of silent unhappy customers due to this issue with the my cloud home.

Sad indeed! WD Drive Utilities has an option to turn off the led on my DW 2tB “My Book” that is a number of years old, perhaps if I wait until the end of this millennium it will be available?

Maybe not enough people have spoken up for WD to take action, but you can add me to the list of customers frustrated by the lack of LED control options on the My Cloud Home. Like irjetsetter, I have several devices—from a Netgear router to a Brother printer, even an air purifier—that let you adjust or turn off the LEDs. It’s a simple feature that makes a big difference, especially for those who keep their devices in bedrooms or workspaces. I believe there are many silent users equally unhappy about this oversight, and it’s time WD acknowledged and addressed it.

WD device power indicator status: Solid white light = Normal operation Flashing orange light = Fault/Initializing Completely off = Power failure; check power adapter connection.

There’s no build in way to turn off the light but a tiny piece of dark tape over it might do the trick…
