Poor return/repair policy

I purchased a brand new My Passport Ultra directly from WD. It failed and did not work and I had to return it for what I thought was the same brand new product but a working model. What I got was a “replacement drive.” For all I know, the “replacement drive” is an old refurbished model. How do I know it’s worth what I paid for the brand new one? I’m very angry about their return policy and now very distrustful of this company.

Depending on the legal system active in your area and the content of your contract you might have “thought” otherwise: especially puchasing another “brand new” and getting back your money for the “did not work”.
