Pinnacle Studio AVI does not play

Hello!

I’ve been a user of the old WD TV (First Generation) and I recently moved to the WD TV Live Hub. Very happy of that. I am not quite sure if it is correct to post the questions here, but i wanted to know if there is going to be a support for the Pinnacle Studio Avi file (the one that you generate when you capture a live stream from a VCR and leave it uncompressed).

Best Regards,

heinz.

heinzpo, your post sounds more like a good Feature Request; the best place for this, is in the Ideas Exchange section. This way someone from WD will be sure to see it and will allow more users to support your idea.

However, I would first search and make sure that there are no other active Feature Requests suggesting the same or similar improvements. If there is, then you could add your post and vote on it.

Regards,

AVI is just a CONTAINER, and AVI as a container IS supported.

Probably what you did was selected the CODEC to be DV instead of a supported codec.

DV was designed to be an ACQUISITION codec, not a storage or playback format.

You can just re-import your Pinnacle AVI back into Pinnacle, do a Save-to-File, and export it as a supported format.

I too have a bunch of DV AVI’s.  Which of the WD Live Plus supported codecs should I use to transcode if I want a lossless result (don’t care about size) ?  Suggestions of freeware transcoders would also be welcome.
