Photo files will not open on WD although they show there as 96GB? Also gone from mac even though I did not erase them. Help?

I bought a WD 4 TB external drive and downloaded all of my MAC photos to it. It shows them there as far as file size 96 GB but when I click to open the passport icon, a window comes up stating “The library could not be opened, photo has attempted to repair the library but was unable to open it” Not sure if this is a MAC message or passport message. It appears to open the MAC photos window when I clock on the “transfered file” in the passport.

To make matters worse, when I try and open on my mac, there is nothing there, and I did not delete them?

Did you try to check it in another computer for same issue ?
