Permissions error after connecting to new computer

I’m using a 2TB My Book attached via USB 3.0.  After building a new system and attaching the drive it would not let me access the folders due to a permissions error.  I figured out how to change the permissions for each folder but there are over 1200 folders on this drive.  Is there a way to fix this error without have to go through each folder?  Changing the permissions for the entire drive in Windows Explorer does not seem to fix the permissions for each folder.

Thanks for any insight.

Try right clicking on the drive and go into properties and then sharing. Set it to share with Everyone and give full  permission. You might also might checkout Take Ownership.

Take ownership worked.  There is an option button to reclaim subdirectories and objects which I did not see the first go round.  Thanks.
