Pb Playing a MP4 File

Hi,

I’ve just bought a WD TV Live in  order to play my MP4 Files not supported by my DVD Player.

I’ve just received it , starting by upgrading firmwares to last version and putting my mp4 File on usb key.

When I try to play it, a message tell me that the format is not supported.

Reading the forum I try to rename the extension to m2ts but it didn’t work.

Could you please help me ?

Thanks for your help, and excuse me for my poor english.

Laurent

Well my guess is that the file is not an MP4 but rather a Flash Video (i.e. FLV) and there is something about the file that the device does not like. The mediainfo says-

Format : Flash Video

Flash Video support on the the WDTV Live is only recent and not well documented.

Your best option would be to re-encode the file into an MP4 container, or some other format supported by the WDTV (e.g. MKV).

Search around this forum to discover your options for re-encoding files.

Thanks for your quick answer.

However I’m really a newbie.

I already tried before to convert the mp4 to Avi and never succeeded.

To solve my pb I bought this player.

And now I’m back to the start.

Could you please guide me a little on the good ways to reencode the file ?

Best Regards

Laurent
