Passport dashboard page

I am totally unable to connect to the mypassport web site no matter what browser I use.  I keep getting page not found or page doesn’t exist.  I’m sure it’s something simple but I have tried and tried.  Any suggestions please?

Have you tried: http://192.168.60.1

You need to connect wirelessly. If you connect directly with a USB cable, you will not be able to connect to the Passport. Turn on the Passport and wait for the WiFi light to turn blue, then type in the address that I posted above.

Hi Scandy - Thanks for your reply. I did try that and I got the 404 error - page not found. Maybe I need to contact WD.

Are you connecting directly or via your home network/router (with the Passport and your computer both connected to your home network)?

If the latter then you need to use the IP that is assigned to the Passport by the router, not the built-in one quoted above. The IP address will vary depending on what it has been assigned by the router. To get that log into your router (usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and once logged in look for a tab/menu with a list of clients or attached devices (it varies from router to router). That should tell you what IP address you need to be using to access the Passport itself.

Try resetting the Passport:

First remove any SD cards from the Passport.

  1. Power on device. Wait till both lights are solid (Fully Booted).
  2. Hold both buttons for 10 seconds (or until the device reboots).
  3. When it boots up it will be in a fresh state, with the exception of the drive. The drive is not touched with this restore.

Then look for MyPassport in your list of available wireless networks, and select MyPassport to connect to it. Open your web browser and try to link to the Passport’s web setup page:

http://192.168.60.1

If that doesn’t work, try:

http://mypassport (for Windows) or

http://mypassport.local (for MAC)
