Open shares require password once one share is set to private?

Hi WD Community,

I’ve got a WD My Cloud 3TB Single Bay.
On that I have the following shares:
Public
Music
Pictures
Video
Sven
All shares are mapped as network drives in Win 10 (multiple machines)
All shares but ‘Sven’ are set to be open / public.
There’s a user named ‘Sven’ and that user has full access for the share ‘Sven’.

All is fine until this…

No here’s the problem: Once I’ve changed the share ‘Sven’ from public to require unsername and password, suddenly all the other shares do the same. So when I want to access my ‘Muxsic’ share, Windows keeps asking for the user and password. Once I enter the credentials for ‘Sven’ I have access to the share. Of course, in the My Cloud config, all these shares are still set to be public.

Well, I don’t think this is how it’s supposed to be, right?
So: What am I doing wrong? I’m confused…
Public shares should stay public and not turn into protected ones - just because I set one share to be such.

Any idea?

Thank you very much in advance

Hello,

It shouldn’t be like that.

Please try resetting the unit and check the settings again.

Thank you ; But is that the only solution?
I’ve got roughly 2 TB of data on it. I’d like to avoid to upload all that stuff once more…

A 4 second reset or 40 second reset does not erase user data…
