Not able to use universal firmware updater

Hi, I have a 2,5" 1TB My Passport Essentials SE, and I want update to the last firmware, I downloaded the WDFirmwareUpdater utility, but when I run the program it show me a message that say “Not able to connect to internet, make sure you have connection” (or something like that), I have Internet connection, I don’t know why I getting this message, I disable my NOD antivirus, but it still can’t connect to internet.

My OS is Windows 7

There’s any way to get the necessary files directly?

Thanks!

Unless you are having issues with the drive or smartware I would not bother with the firnware update. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I don’t update mine.

I need disable the power saving settings, (it’s for gaming porpuses) currently it spins down.

I know they made a fix for some of the Elements, I don’t know if it gives you actual access to change spindown or not. Make sure your Flash is up to date. Possibly the NetFramework also. It sounds like the internet connection is disrupted when you disable the AV test your connection before trying the Firmware update.

I finally download WD SmartWare, but it doesn’t include an option to disable spindown.

Do you know another app that I could use?

You need to contact support and see if they can do it for you.  You can do so either by phone or email.
