Not able to install software or see My Book for Mac

Although the 3 partitions of my My Book mount on my desktop, only the bottom light on the My Book lights up, the Lock and Capacity Gauge do not and I get error messages when I try to install the driver software downloaded off the web site. It tells me I am missing a couple of utility items. I’m running MacOS 10.8.3 on a MacBook Pro.

I can access the material stored on the My Book partitions and Time Machine seems able to complete back-ups OK.
