No way to recover files from MyBook Live Duo?

So far, every place I’ve looked has said the only way to recover files from a MyBook Live Duo (My Cloud, etc) is to pull the physical drive and install it into a Linux box or use a Linux reading program. Can the MyBook be connected to the PC directly using an ethernet cable instead?

Yes you can connect the My Book Live directly to the PC with the Ethernet cable.
