My hard drive mounts and gives the correct specs of used and unused space but no files are visible. I am able to copy small files onto the drive but then disappear as soon as they are done copying. I am on a linux os
Linux isn’t a supported OS.

Even do Linux isn’t supported the drive should work. If it is disconnecting make sure the unit power adapter is connected straight to the wall. Also confirm USB cables are working fine.
The last thing you should do is checking the drive on another machine (Windows) to see if issue continues.
