Just a note to let you know that the WD TV LIVE box will not play all .mov files properly. I have some taken with a Kodak camera. When I play them the video is okay but no audio. The WD suport people say that the WD box doesn’t support the codec that is used dispite the fact that mov files are listed as being supported. They recommended that I use a third party programm to convert it to something else. Here is a quote from there site “Supports a wide variety of the most popular file formats. No need to spend time transcoding.” I am a little dissapointed with the response.
I think most people would agree that the WD marketing leaves a lot to be desired in their promises.
That said, it’s impossible for any hardware device like the Live to support all codecs, and it’s easy to convert to something it does support. But if that’s not what you want to do I’d advise you to return the unit (nearly any place you bought it from will allow this for a full refund).
