Getting a new box, I am thinking of firmware 1.09 and leave everything else default. Wired ethernet and HDMI setup.
Community advice?
It can first get a box and then the questions will be less.

If you have a good sound system, pick up a optical cable for great sound
on HD movies. I have an optical cable from my WDTV Live to my Bose.

Thats not the way to get a response from a user to user forum. It was a good reply.
Just plug it in and play with it. Read the manual and change the defaults to see what they do. Obviously use an HDMI cable if you want the best picture and an Ethernet connection if you want the best speed. Try it out with the firmware it comes with and update later. You can always rollback if you don’t like it. Come back if you have any problems.
