New WD My Book drive not showing on network (3 hrs on phone with support)

So, bought new 3 tb my book external drive.  Attached to pc by usb and it works fine.  Attached to usb port on wd mynet n900 router and it does not appear on network - it does show in router configuration, and I configured the drive in there.  I have an older my book drive that was plugged in to the router usb port and I could see it in windows network.  Have been passed around wd phone support for 3 hrs, no help.  Before I return drive to store, anyone here have an idea for me

I don’t know about your router but it might not handle a drive larger than 2 T. A 2 T drive formatted for Windows is NTFS MRB a 3T drive is NTFS GPT.

would partitioning the drive in to 2tb and 1tb make a difference then?


I believe you are correct.  Returned the 3tb drive, got a 2tb my book drive, and it works perfect with router
