New WD HDD, seems like it is in bad condition (low health)

HDD 1000 Gb Western Digital (WD10EZEX), 3.5’', 64Mb, SATA III, i bought it yesterday and it seems like an old hdd (but its new 2016), Windows shows low health on HDD, and temp is above 40c. Should i go to service centre, or try it on other computer? When i move it, seems like there is a sand in it, is it normal?

Hi Yelzhas_Toxan

The drive you have is a WD Blue 1TB Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD10EZEX,

Download piriform speccy portable at Builds
Download CrystalDiskMark 5.2.0 portable at Download - Crystal Dew World [en]

run speccy it takes about a minute to collect the information about your computer.

under summary click on storage

find the WD10EZEX click on it

click on smart (ie this will give you the status of the drives health)

find power on hours and that will tell you if its new. (ie how many hours the drive has been used).

The normal temperature of a powered on new hard drive at idle is 1 to 2 degrees above room temperature.

run CrystalDiskMark and post your findings.
