I’m new at this but I got the new Passport installed. There is a utilities icon on the desktop but no backup icon. I went to backup.exe and ran it. It gets me to “set up your first backup”, but then can’t find a target to back anything up to.

What’s the name of the backup software that you are installing?
Depending on the model number of your drive, you can use a different backup software.
