Just purchased new pasport 2TB, intalled and tried doing first backup, The screen displayed preparing backup, so I walked away, 10 hours later it still says preparing backup, Uninstalled and tried again and still shows Preparing backup for other 10 hours. Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

WD backup do not perform backup for files which are locked by Operating System. I would recommend you please start your backup again and refer the provided link to get more assistance:
