New My Book -- is this not NAS?

After several years of good service from a MyBookLive 2TB to which all three of my computers stored files, I decided to replace it with a My Book 8TB. But I think maybe I goofed. This does not appear to be NAS.
In other words, it can only be used by one computer at a time. It’s difficult to tell, because the box did not contain any instructions at all.

Do I need to return this and get a MyCloud instead?

Yes, My Book is not a NAS drive, instead it is DAS (Direct Attached Storage) which is directly plugged in to the computer via USB cable.
