Two Questions: Do you know when the drives will be available and more importantly, are the drives compatible with the original MacPro Trashcan models?

Mac Pro currently does not have USB-C ports, but rather USB 3.0 Type A ports. So, regardless of using a USB-C to USB 3.0 Type A adapter to connect USB-C G-Drive to current Mac Pro, you will only achieve USB 3.0 5 Gbps data transfer speed.
