I set my mom up with a WD TV and a 2tb hard drive full of movies. The problem is that she does not have internet access where she lives so every time she turns on the WD TV it searchs for network  connection. There should be a toggle to not search for network connection.

No can do. WD somewhere stated it’s not possible. Don’t know why, makes no sense, but that’s how it is.
