Network Thumbnails

I can’t seem to find a simple answer on here about thumbnails not showing up on my network connection. If I put a movie on the internal hard drive I just use the get info button and it find and shows the thumbnails fine. If I access a movie from my network from a external hard drive, the get info button disappears and I cannot get any thumbanils for my movies. Is this the way this thing works or is there a easy way to make the thumbnails work on my network. I have the latest firmware.

The network location (share) needs to be added to your Media Library, and My Media Library set to be your current source.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I did what you said but I get a message that says the selected source is read only. Can’t seem to get around it.
