Need some help how to install fresh drives for Plex server

Hello and sorry if this has already found it’s way into a topic.

I have the WD My Cloud Mirror 2tb version. Both drives apparently failed and I now have 2 new WD Red 2tb drives. What do I need to do to prepare them for installing into the enclosure.

To be clear, the old drives are unusable, and sadly out of warranty, so I am starting with brand new drives. I installed them into the enclosure but I get the never ending: “Power was lost from the system. Performing file system consistency check. Please wait.”

I have inserted both drives into the enclosure, but have 2 red lights on the drives and blue for system. Cannot access dashboard.

I can connect the drives directly to my laptop so if I need to partition or add any firmware prior to installing please let me know.

I want to turn the device into a Plex server for movies and music.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

How long did you wait for the system check to complete? It can take hours, if not a full day…

Hi Tony,

It’s been going on 4 days now.

1 Blue light

2 red lights

Ethernet light flickering.

Can not access from IP address or from WD My Cloud desktop app

Any suggestions? Possible the enclosure is corrupted?

Should I wipe drives completely clean and remove all partitions?

Each are WD Red 2tb drives
