Need help! WD5000ME (wrong firmware update)

Hi,

I have a WD5000ME passport HD that was working perfectly, but after I tried to update it with “EssentialElite_FirmwareUpdater_v2.003(1.0.8.0).zip” WD SmartWare (I know… That was stupid) it stopped working. When it is plugged it shows as “Initio Default Controller”. Is there some way to flash it with the original firmware again??

Please someone help me!

I am having the same problem on 2 of the 1TB drives that I updated the firmware last week… I hope there is a work around to this or WD may see a class action law suit if enough people are having issues…
