NAS access died on my macbook!

I have a My Book World Edition II(white light) 2 TB NAS drive that has worked great for years.
Sometime after Sierra update, the password stopped working. I think I had been tinkering with the keychain.
I reset the NAS drive and updated the username and password over Bonjour.
Both Macs in the house can see the NAS on the network, but cannot access it. The screen just times out.
Funny enough, I can pop right in with my Android phone using any of a few file manager apps.
Ideas?

It could be a problem related to protocol compatibility. What happens if you try to manually map your unit using CIFS or AFP as explained in the following link?
